How to build your personal, mindful, and simple Autumn Home Reset

People often talk about spring cleaning, but I think autumn is also a wonderful time to organize your home and tidy up. The change of season from summer to fall really tempts you to redecorate your home and prepare for the cozier season. The wool blankets are put back on the armchair, and the candles, scented or unscented, add a touch of cosiness to the room. Add a hot chocolate or a cup of tea to make the moment of relaxation perfect.
Today, I have a few ideas for you for your personal autumn home reset:

-Review the past few months
October has already begun, which means we have officially entered the last quarter of the year. This is the perfect time to review the past few months. What were my goals for this year? Where was I at the beginning of the year, and where am I today? Was I able to achieve what I set out to do, and if not, why not?
Perhaps you would like to take a moment of your time and write down the answers to these questions. Just let whatever comes up come up on the paper. No judgments. Whatever wants to come up, create space for it on the sheet of paper and be open to whatever shows up, be in permission with everything, and just observe whatever wants to find its place on the paper.
-Goals for the coming/last months of the year
After point one, you can also start thinking about the remaining three months. How would you like to spend the last months of the year? Do you have a specific goal in mind for the rest of the year? Perhaps your intentions from the beginning of the year are now completely different. That’s okay. Again, leave room for whatever wants to come up, let your heart speak and feel, not think. For me personally, when I think about questions like these and write them down, it’s always important that they are in harmony with my body and don’t overwhelm or stress me in any way. I would like to pass this on to you as well. Whatever your goals are for the last months of the year, always go at your own pace and leave room for whatever wants to show up. The darker season is not far off; the nights are getting longer and the days shorter, so slow down and adapt to nature. Be in tune with your body and nature and act in a way that feels good.
-Embrace a slower pace
With the change of seasons, we have entered a new energy. Among other things, the energy of fall invites us to truly celebrate the cozy hours it brings and simply slow down a little. Give yourself and your body a break and enjoy the moment, a hot chocolate, a coffee, or a tea.
-Cozy sweaters, home decoration, and more
The colder season ahead calls for a cozy sweater and/or cardigan. So now is the perfect time to reorganize your wardrobe, bring out your warm clothes, and maybe give away or buy a few new items. When it comes to the latter, I always try to invest in good quality pieces that will last longer and feel comfortable against my skin.
The new season is also a wonderful invitation to redecorate your apartment or house, perhaps adding a few candles or decorative pieces such as beautiful ornamental pumpkins or wreaths.
-create space in your home and mind
This point is one of my favorites on the list. My family and I have been busy the last two weekends, getting rid of some items and tidying up the apartment. There’s something liberating about getting rid of some things, if you ask me. For a long time, I’ve been cooking in the kitchen according to the motto “less is more” and “back to basics,” and this has now carried over to areas such as my own home. If you don’t want to part with something completely, then perhaps you can start by storing these things in the basement, and if you don’t need them for months or even a whole year, then it’s definitely time to part with them.

-Organize your home
Since I am someone who likes to tidy up a cupboard (e.g., wardrobe or kitchen cupboard) but then, unfortunately, doesn’t put things back as neatly as I would like, after a few months or even a few weeks, it looks the same as it did before I tidied up, and the whole process starts all over again. I have therefore decided to create a system so that this no longer happens, and also to make more of an effort when putting my clothes in the wardrobe or putting things back in the kitchen. I must admit that since I’ve been tidying up every closet in the apartment step by step and we as a family have created a system for how things should be tidied up and how they should be put back in their place in the future, it feels really good. I especially love having my office tidy, because it automatically feels lighter, and I feel like my “busy mind” is very grateful for my tidiness.
-Winter facial cleansing routine
I have very dry skin, and with the new season, my skin definitely needs more moisture than it did a few weeks ago. I’m no skin expert, but I’m convinced that during the fall and winter months, your skin could use an extra cream or two, or simply a richer cream in general, to keep it feeling nourished and sufficiently moisturized.
-Romanticize your morning hours
Finally, something for your self-care routine. The cozy season definitely invites you to make yourself comfortable. What could be better than starting the day with a nourishing and delicious breakfast, followed by a hot tea or coffee? Celebrate your morning hours more than ever and treat yourself to this short moment of me-time so that you, too, can feel truly nourished.
I hope you enjoy implementing your HOME reset and look forward to receiving your feedback.

This is beautifully written, Debora, it captures that quiet invitation of autumn to turn inward, both in our homes and in ourselves. The way you frame tidying as emotional and energetic alignment feels deeply grounding. I especially like your reminder that goals should harmonize with the body, not pressure it. It’s such an overlooked truth.
Do you find that the physical act of decluttering often brings clarity to your inner reflections as well, or does the mental reset come first and then inspire the outer order?
so many good tips looking forward to trying them already learning to slow down 💓👏🏻
